Well I have been feeling creative lately and have made a few items along with a lovely batch of witches salts so after a few questions of exactly...'How do I use These?'
I felt I'd write a small piece with a little extra information other than what the salts can be used for.
So many of you will recognise, know and probably use the salts that we can easily purchase in the local shops or physical/online metaphysical shops:
Himalayan Salt A wonderfully detoxing bath with 84 essential minerals. It contains lower levels of Magnesium than other bath salts, but is a nice all-rounder to regularly give an additional boost to your overall mineral intake while nourishing your skin and detoxifying your body.
Himalayan salt crystals, known for their detoxifying properties.
The pretty pink crystals have been around for millions of years and contain an impressive 84 minerals including magnesium, calcium, iron and potassium.
Dead Sea Salt This is perfect for people who need a milder intake of magnesium, such as children and people with dry skin or low Calcium / Potassium levels. It provides a gentle balance of Magnesium, Calcium and Potassium which can also help repair and protect dry, itchy or eczema prone skin. Epsom Salts Great for sports people and people who are experiencing cramps and aching muscles. Epsom Salt (Magnesium Sulphate) helps to draw lactic acid out of the body and muscles, while instantly giving a strong fix of Magnesium. The tried and tested mineral compound of magnesium sulphate helps detoxify and relax the muscles. Magnesium Flakes/Salt This is the ideal bath for people who find their Magnesium deficiency results in restlessness, irritability, poor sleep quality, anxiety or depression, as it is a gentle way of boosting Magnesium which also is retained well by the body providing a more lasting effect than Epsom salt Instructions for use Dissolve salts in a warm bath of 37-39°C. (or foot bath) Relax and soak for 20 minutes. For general skin health and wellbeing add 1/2-1 cup (approx 100g-250g) to your bath. To help relax tired and aching muscles use 2-4 cups (500g-1Kg).
Now Witches Salts are specially made salts with a base of usually of Dead Sea Salt - however I use Himalayan Salt for Dragon Bloods Salt.
The 4 salts I tend to make are:
Witches Black Salt - Use for: Banishing, Protection, Cleansing, Purification, Change
Dragons Blood Salt - Use for: Protection, Power, Courage, Life Changes, Consecration of Magickal Tools
Witches Purple Salt - Use for: Peace, Third Eye, Building Intuition & Psychic Abilities,
Witches Green Salt - Use for: Abundance, Money, Wealth, Job Search, Consecration of Gardening Tools
The other question I have been asked is, What do we do with the salts? You say you can use them for protection etc...but What do we do?
Below are a couple of things I do or are aware you can do...but before we start I suggest that you decide why you have bought the salt and what it is you want to use it for. Now set an intention, I would hold the bottle in between the palms of your hands and after taking a couple of deep breathes, ensuring you are grounded and protected, set your intention eg:
Black Salt: To protect you from negative energies, for your highest good - so mote it be
Dragons Blood Salt: To consecrate your altar tools to support you in your working, for your highest good - so mote it be
Purple Salt: To support with your connection to spirit, for your highest good - so mote it be
Green Salt: To bring in abundance, for your highest good, so mote it be
Now all salts are sent in a little bottle of roughly 10-15g of salt - so if you wish to leave the salt in the bottles you can do and maybe do the following...
Hang them in the area you are wanting them to do their workings
Place a bottle in the 4 corners of your home to aid with protection, the abundance one in the back lefthand corner of your home (take the door that you enter into your home as the front to work out the back lefthand corner) with your citrine crystal (this is your abundance corner)
Place the bottle in an organza bag and carry it with you
Now some of you may be a bit more adventurous and may want to use the salt within your ritual or spell work, so the following may be an idea...use the salt to...
Cast a circle prior to performing your ritual
Make up a charm bag or mojo bag adding herbs, crystals, scrolls as needed (I would suggest a velvet bag for this as an organza bag would allow too much moisture in)
Stop negativity from coming into your home...place on your window sill or door frame for protection against anything or anyone coming in, the salt will absorb their negative energy
Stop someone returning to your home - place black salt across the doorway and ask that they do not return for your highest good
A couple of words of warning doing any of the above where the salt is taken from the bottle...
Make sure the salt doesn't go directly into clothing or a carpet as the colour within may stain - it should be ok on a windowsill as usually you can just wipe away - if in doubt do a test patch
When the salt is moist that is when it has absorbed the negativity or done it's given job, the salt then needs to be disposed of and replaced. Dispose in the garden away from any plants, or chuck down the toilet or sink asking that any negativity or bad energies are taking back to the sea/earth to be recycled into good by mother nature
You may want to put some of the salt directly onto your skin...I would advise against Black and Dragons Blood as some of the ingredients may have a negative effect to the skin, the purple you may want to place on your third eye and the green in the palms of your hands - please do a test patch before you jump into doing the full ritual.
I am sure that there are many other ways of using the salt but hopefully these few ideas will help as a starting point. (It's always good to do your own research and follow your intuition)
If you have any questions please do not hesitate to Get In Touch, but for now please enjoy using your salts.
Brightest of Blessings
